Hong Kong: Ta Po wishing tree and Victoria Peak

Seriously, i dunno what is there to see at Ta Po except for the wishing tree. It is said that this wishing tree is very 'accurate' in the sense that many people got their wish fulfilled after putting it on the tree.

However, due the large amount of 'wishes' on the tree, more than what the tree can hold, visitors can no longer throw their wishes up to the tree like those HK serials. Instead, you can write down your wish as usual but place it on one of the boards near the tree.

At Victoria Peak, it has the most breath-taking view of Hong Kong especially when viewed at night. Due to renovation work, we could only go to part of Victoria Peak but the view is still magnificent.

Hong Kong: Repulse Bay & Shen Shui Wan

These 2 bays are the ones that attracts the most tourist.

At Repulse bay, it is packed with lots of people. There, it stood a very tall Goddess of Mercy statue, forgot how tall it is.

Other than that there is really nothing much to see except lots of good photo taking backdrops.


Over at Shen Shui Wan, we took a ferry ride on the bay.

The most eye catching thing here is the gigantic Jumbo floating Restaurant. Though we never stepped into it, the exterior view is already jaw dropping.

Hong Kong: Li Yu Men

Went to Li Yu Men for seafood dinner. Heard that it is one of the most famous places for seafood in HK but honestly i have never heard of it before hahahha....



There are many restaurants in Li Yu Men and all of them sells seafood. Many restaurants displayed their seafood live for you to choose. After that they will cook the seafood you chose according to your preference.

Hong Kong in 2005

My family decided to visit Hong Kong in 2005. One of the main reasons was to visit the then newly open Disneyland. Another was the effective adverts which depicts HK as the food and shopping heaven hahaha....

Anyway, here we are, arrival at the new HKIA

Hang Zhou: Xi Hu

Xi Hu is a very scenic tourist attraction. Basically, we took a ride on one of the many ferries plying the lake. On board we just enjoyed the fantastic view of nature and took in the cold winter breeze.

Near the lake, there are a few restaurants selling the well known "Dong po" meat. Of course we had to try it as well =)

Hang Zhou: Wu Zhen

Wu Zhen is another one of the tourist attraction which is modeled after ancient chinese towns. It represents a more backward village type of feeling.

The place depicted the low income level village of ancient china and shows the lifestyle of the people back then.

We also visited a place were many types of beds are displayed. The beds range from the simple ones to those that emperors used.

Shanghai: The Bund

One of the 'must visit' places in Shanghai. In chinese, this is the famous "Wai Tan" also known as "Shanghai Tan". The Bund is mentioned in many of the tv serials and also the settings for many of the movies. It runs also the Huangpu river and there are many fantastic looking buildings lining the Bund.

These include a very famous "He Ping Fan Dian", the Peace Hotel.


HSBC bank and beside it is the Custom House.


You can even see the Oriental Pearl Tower in Pudong. Really breath-taking view, especially at night.

Hang Zhou: Song Cheng

Song Cheng is basically mimics the ancient China towns in terms of architectural structures.


In addition there are many stalls that line up the streets just like what we usually see on tv.


After having dinner and roaming the streets, we settled down in an auditorium to watch a play called "Romance of the Song Dynasty".

Personally, the play is just people decked out in ancient costumes. Nothing much to see. The end of the play also signals the end of the tour at Song Cheng.

Shanghai: Dong Fang Ming Zhu

Dong Fang Ming Zhu is the office of China’s TV broadcast company. Due to its unique building structure and the height of the building (cant remember how high it is =P) it has been a tourist attraction since it opens.


We need to queue up for the lift to get on to one of the highest level (queue cos there is only ONE lift). But once u are up there, the view is truly magnificent....

Shanghai: Cha Xuan

Cha Xuan is basically a very huge place (in terms of land size). Most of the space is dedicated to growing tea leaves. There are many aunties manually picking the tea leaves, after that the leaves are ‘fried’ to become tea leaves. Its a very labour intensive procedure.

Inside the place, there is a courtyard for tourist to taste the tea. Staff there will explain how to brew and taste the tea. Then they will ask ask u to buy their tea leaves (that goes without saying la....) and each of us went away with a few cans of them....

They call this guy 'cha sheng'...i dunno why too....

Shanghai: Chen Huang Miao

Chen Huang Miao is not exactly a miao (temple), in fact it is not lolz...



Chen Huang Miao is sort of like an attraction for tourist with eateries and many street-side stores selling souvenirs...



The first thing we did was to try the xiao long bao, which is supposed to be good. Imo, it taste juz like any other xiao long bao u can find in spore, nuting special at all....



Took some photos and walk around, not really that much stuffs to buy, perhaps only admire the architectural aspects of the place...

Btw, there is a seemingly out of place starbucks in the middle of all these hahah...

2004: Shanghai Pu Dong Airport

The international airport at Pu Dong is not as aesthetically pleasing as newer airports in other countries but it is quite spacious with a fairly efficient system. Waiting for our luggage and clearing the custom took a reasonable time. Before we knew it, its off into the cool winter Shanghai.....
